Fingal Head, 2024 Jack MacRae (he/him) Sunshine Coast/Kabi Kabi Gubbi Gubbi Country Fingal Head is a cherished beach where Jack spent seven years in his twenties, fulfilling his beach childhood dream. Jack MacRae is an emerging artist from the Sunshine Coast/Kabi Kabi Gubi Gubi Country. Working with hand-cut collage and a colour field painting style; he creates abstracted and bold landscapes of the Australian coast along with various daily scenes. By playing with cut out elemental shapes in bold planes of colour, Jack's work transforms these landscapes into their purest and simplest forms, creating a unique flattened perspective of the world. Jack’s practice is an ongoing exploration of autonomy, materiality, scale and space.
